It is currently at 9 o clock which 1) becomes a problem when shooting close to a wall or barrier and 2) doesn't allow for the light to be used easily when shooting left handed. The only problem with what I have going now is that the light is not at 12 o clock. I have played with a few different set ups and I'm not sold on what I've got going now but it is the best thing I can come up with. I have switched to a TLR-1 mounted on the rail of my carbine. So my thumb is either jammed up or just in a bad position altogether.Įxample 1 - This carbine has a longer forearm and I my thumb interfaces with the light nicely. The problem on shorter rails is that my thumb ends being further forward than I can position the clicky switch. I try and keep my LOP and LOR the same on all of my guns, I use the break style gripping technique and my hand only engages the top half of the vertical grip. (This dicussion will eventually spin off into what lights and why, but for now, lets stay with switchology.) So I made some concessions and used a tape switch.
I fiddled around with my 10" ACR setup last night for a while and just could not get it to work with a pushbutton. On Shorter Rails I need to move the light to the other side of the gun and use a tape switch. On longer rails I can get away with a pushbutton. I have gone back and forth on this, I find for me its a function of rail length.
